Trips and Outings

We take a lot of trips at our school, ranging from local half day trips for 5 to 6 students, to week long international trips for our teenagers. These trips are all proposed, discussed and voted on by the students involved, and they do most of the research and planning of the trips as well. Apart from the international trip, which is for ages 12 and up, all trips are open to all ages, depending on parental approval.

We also host a range of in-school activities and demonstrations that excite and energise the whole school.

In the last few years we’ve been on a wide variety of trips which include:

  • Half day at local apple pressing farm
  • Full day to visit the Waterford Walls urban art exhibition
  • Beach days at Brittas Bay and Magheramore
  • Visit to Secret Valley conservation zoo
  • Day trip to Glendalough
  • Half day at Special Operations airsoft centre
  • Trip to Gormleys modern art exhibition in Dublin
  • Trips to various college Open days for graduating students
  • Ice skating in Dundrum
  • Treetop walk at Avondale
  • Belfast Science museum
  • The Wall, indoor climbing centre
  • Bowling centre in Bray
  • Sugarloaf hike

We’ve also had a number of visiting demonstrations and experiences:

  • Birds of Prey, with owls and hawks
  • Table tennis coach visit
  • Animation workshop
  • Bike repair workshop
  • Rubbish Film Festival
  • Wool In Schools

International trips for students over 12

Each year, we organise an international trip where students research and propose locations, help plan the itinerary, and commit to working on certain emotional and social skills in the lead up. It has proven to be another way for students to demonstrate and develop maturity and independence.  We went to La Rochelle (France) in 2023, Bulgaria in 2024 and Athens (Greece) in 2025.
